Application Rules
Solo performance
Compose or perform a piece of music that is inspired by an environmental issue that you are passionate about. Whether you choose to write a song with lyrics or an instrumental piece, your music should reflect the emotions and urgency associated with the issue. Consider the sounds and rhythms of nature and incorporate them into your composition. You may also want to include field recordings of natural sounds or environmental activism protests to create a sense of place and context. Your music should be a call to action for environmental advocacy, inspiring listeners to take responsibility for the well-being of our planet. When creating a performance video, think about how you can visually convey the message of your music by using imagery that showcases the beauty of nature or the effects of human actions on the environment.

An artist statement, the score, and the performance video are required for submission. The performance video must be uploaded to YouTube with the title: "Green Innovation Challenge YEAR - TITLE". The YouTube link must be provided as part of the application.

The applicant must state their name, age, address, school, and school address within their application.

The artist statement should explain how the composition or performance is related to the environment in less than 500 words. The declaration should be saved as a Word or PDF document with the following filename: STUDENT NAME - TITLE.

Your file names must be less than 25 characters in length and written in English.
Judging Criteria

Foundation: How is the rhythm, quality of tonal sound and timbre, and fidelity of the published score?

Relevance: The quality and clarity of your musical performance should highlight your chosen environmental issue. You may use a variety of instruments, vocals, or other musical elements to express your message.

Focus: Select the environmental issue that inspired your musical composition or performance video. This may include global warming, water scarcity, air quality, or any other environmental issues you are interested in.

Artistic quality: Does the music possess qualities such as balance, phrasing, and emotional efficacy?
